EGRV

EGRV (formerly known as Electronic Groove) is the brainchild of DJ Lawrence a.k.a. DJ Random and Ade Habibie. The project was born when they started to make some tunes in a dingy office space back in early 2003. Within two months they had produced more than 40 tracks, 13 of which were included on their debut album "Prototype". The album was hailed by several Indonesian music publications as the rise of electronic music in Indonesia. In 2004, they released Electronic Groove EP. The EP includes 4 tracks track such as "I Don't Wanna" that topped the Prambors Nu Buzz chart for 2 weeks and exclusive remix of Fine from Junko.

In early 2006 a new full length "Rock, Paper, Scissor" followed. The LP featured tracks Star Overrated and Fine. Both tracks manage to chart in Paranoia Chart on Hardrock FM and created buzz in both dance scene and indie scene. Later on, the album also got nominated as Album of The Year in 2006 REDMA. Shortly after the release of the LP, Ade Habibie left Indonesia to pursue study in Amsterdam and Electronic Groove was put in hiatus. During this period of time, Electronic Groove released an album "Recuts, Remixes, Rejects" exclusively on iTunes. The album consists of b-sides, remixes and other stuff that was previously unreleased.

In 2008, Electronic Groove is back on its feet with the return of Ade Habibie. The pair decided to reformat Electronic Groove by replacing the name to EGRV. The changes are not just cosmetics as the pair decides to revamp how they perform and present their music live. EGRV continue to stay on the cutting edge of technology by utilizing Ableton Live while aided by open source technology that enable them to use avant-garde tools such as the touch screen controllers such as Jazz Mutant Lemur and Dexter, the LED inspired Monome and even common tools such as iPhones. Despite all this advance gadgets, EGRV continue to incorporate vintage analog gears such as Roland's legendary synth TB-303 and drum machines such as TR-909 and 808 in their live performance to emphasize that they are not just a one trick pony kind a act. 2010 mark the debut of EGRV with a new LP "Power On Power Off".
